What We Believe

THE BIBLE

We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, that it is inerrant and infallible, the supreme and ultimate authority in all matters of faith and conduct, understood only through the illumination and teaching of the Holy Spirit.

THE GODHEAD

We believe that the Godhead exists co-equally in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and that these three are one God, sovereign in creation, providence and redemption.

THE LORD JESUS CHRIST

We believe in the true and proper deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His real and complete humanity, in His sinless life, in His authoritative teaching, in His substitutionary and atoning sacrifice through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His heavenly intercession, in His personal pre-millennial and pre-tribulation return to receive His church and to establish His millennial kingdom.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe in the deity of the Holy Spirit who proceeds from the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit's work is to convince the world of sin, righteousness and judgment, to teach, to guide into all truth, to bring the word of Christ to remembrance, to glorify Christ, to show things to come, to produce fruit in the life of the believers, to equip believers for effective service and ministry.

MANKIND

We believe in the total depravity of fallen nature, rendering men subject to the wrath of God.

SALVATION

We believe that salvation is available to all, that it includes justification, sanctification and glorification, that repentance for sin and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ are essential to salvation, that the repentant sinner is thus justified by faith alone, that this is evidenced in holy living.

THE CHURCH

We believe in the unity and priesthood of all true believers in Christ.

THE COMMISSION

We believe that the commission of the Lord Jesus Christ to all believers is 'Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature' - 'Teach all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost' - teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.'

THE COMING KING

We believe in the personal, pre-millennial, pre-tribulation return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe that the signs of the time point exclusively toward the close of 'the times of the Gentiles', that the return of the Lord is imminent, that the completed Church will be translated to meet the Lord in the air to be 'forever with the Lord', that Israel will be restored to her own land in unbelief and will be afterwards converted as she repents, recognises Christ as Messiah, that the Lord Jesus Christ will reign for a thousand years upon the earth during which time there will be a further outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon all flesh, that the message of the imminent return of Christ is the greatest motivation to prayer, holiness of life and evangelism.

THE FUTURE STATE

We believe in the resurrection of the just and unjust, the eternal blessedness of the redeemed in Christ and the eternal punishment of those who ignore or who have rejected the offer of salvation.

A NOTE ON DATE FIXING: From the very beginning of Prophetic Witness Movement International (PWMI), formerly as the Advent Testimony Movement, I am pleased to say that we have never fallen into the devil's trap of 'date fixing'. This is a temptation and a ploy of the enemy to discredit those who fall for it. Sadly, over the years we have witnessed many who have succumbed and have been left looking foolish. In 2012 it was US evangelist Harold Camping who was left with 'egg on his face' over this issue.

More recently we have been made aware of the re-emergence of the teachings of A E Ware & F. L. Paine who during the early part of last century fell into the same trap. Based on their obsession with chronology and numerology these men also made the mistake of date fixing. Ware made the prediction that the rapture would take place on June 12th 1933, when this failed he revised his chronology and decided it must be about 1945, but of course he was wrong on both counts. It has come to our attention that his booklets have been republished and are being given out freely in some parts of the country! and that some prophecy speakers are following the Ware teachings.

As a Movement we warned against this in 1933 and feel that it is right to issue the same warning to our readers at this time lest any should be led astray or troubled by these false ideas. We have always, as a Movement, sought to declare the great truth of the rapture but at the same time to expose false and wild notions. We therefore warn our readers against the teachings of Ware & Paine as we did 80 years ago and beware of those who peddle them. Let us remember that 'no man knows the day or the hour-only our Father in heaven'.
