As this is the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the year that saw the beginning of our movement, I thought it good to recommend a book of beginnings.
     
'40 Days Through Genesis' by Ron Rhodes takes us back to where it all began, indeed it is sub-titled 'Discover the story that started it all’.

Genesis, as Rhodes points out, shows us the beginning of creation, the beginning of God’s plan of redemption, the beginning of Jewish nation and of God’s covenants with man.

As with the other books in this series i.e. Daniel and Revelation, Rhodes gives a clear easy to read commentary on each passage, outlines major themes, offers cross references for 'Deeper digging’ and gives a list of applicable life lessons along with questions for reflection and further discussion.

There are, as suggested, 40 studies covering the whole of Genesis and the book is a delight to read on one’s own or useful for house groups or other teaching situations.

The reader will have a greater appreciation of the foundation of God's purposes, the opening scenes of His redemptive plan and his purposes for Israel.

With over 300 pages this is an excellent book with which to start the year.
