...What does the word ‘disciple' mean?
by Pastor Jon Ikin
by Rev. Byron Jones
Most of us understand little of Islam and even less about the violent and chaotic events in the Middle East. In this first study we’ll examine the background and rise of Isis and why it appears attractive to young Muslims, even those brought up within a comfortable Western culture.

There are three major ways God presents evidence to the human race to confirm his existence; firstly in Romans chapter one Paul tells us that all men are without excuse because the evidence for God is revealed in everything that has been made. Creation and the natural world all display his glory, including the heavens. Unfortunately, scientific rationalism which has permeated western minds since the time of Darwin has all but destroyed that piece of evidence in the thinking of most people, who now believe that everything around us is the result of random chance. But for those who believe the truth of his Word, the glory of our God is revealed in the wonder of his creation. We see in the intricate design of everything, clear evidence of the designer himself.

III. THE THIRD ABODE: THE ATMOSPHERIC HEAVENS
The third and present abode of Satan is mentioned in Ephesians 2:2 and 6:12.
Ephesians 2:2 states: "wherein ye once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the powers of the air, of the spirit that now works in the sons of disobedience.”
Ephesians 6:12 states: "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
In Ephesians 2, Satan is the prince of the powers of the air. In Ephesians 6, he is in the heavenly places. Thus, Satan's third and present abode can be described as the atmospheric heavens. He lives in the air or the atmosphere.
While the atmospheric heavens function as Satan’s third and present abode, he does indeed have permission of access into two other localities. First, he has permission of access into Heaven and often uses it. To this day, whenever he so desires, he can still go into Heaven and stand before the very presence of God (Job 1:6; 2:1). Whenever Satan uses his permission of access to enter into Heaven, he does so, for only one reason: to be the accuser of the brethren; not only against Job, but also an accuser against Israel (Zech. 3:1), and against believers today (Rev. 12:10). Whenever a believer falls into a state at unconfessed sin, sooner or later Satan will stand before the Throne of God the Father to accuse that believer. That is why believers still need the ministry of Yeshua as their Advocate. Whenever Satan has any grounds of accusing them, Yeshua can say, "Lay that sin upon My account. I have already paid for that sin when I died for that person on the cross.” In this way, Yeshua is still ministering as our Advocate. On the other hand, believers have a responsibility to be careful not to give grounds for Satan to accuse us before God’s Throne.

An uplifting meditation from Philippians chapter two.
Most of our unthinking secular world will miss (again) the transcendent wonder and mystery of all time — THE INCARNATION OF THE SON OF GOD. The inspired Apostle Paul wrote "Great is the mystery of Godliness, God was manifest in the flesh” (1 Timothy 3:16). Again, in his letter to the Philippians he states his life’s goal and purpose “That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings being made conformable unto His death” (ch 3:10). To know Jesus Christ personally is infinitely higher knowledge than mere "religion". It is a divine revelation.

A significant but overlooked prophecy about Iran comes in the 49th chapter of Jeremiah. It is basically a bad news prophecy for Elam (Iran), which makes it a good news prophecy for Israel in the last days Being found at the close of several chapters dealing with Gentile nations who are going to be attacked by Babylon, this final message is different from the rest. For a start it has a date, which none of the others have Verse 34 says: "The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah...” This was 596 BC, about a decade before the fall of Jerusalem.
By recording this prophecy’s date Jeremiah may be saying that it came at a different time to the others. But a more significant issue regards its fulfilment. “Of Elam nothing can be said with any certainty,” wrote George Campbell—Morgan, and similar sentiments are echoed by other commentators. Although some make brave and complicated attempts to find a fulfilment, none of them are very convincing. The case for future fulfilment is a good one — especially since v39 talks about, "the latter days”. In fact some prophecy teachers suggest that we could even be looking here at, "an imminent event.” If so, we need an urgent understanding of what the Lord says He will do to Iran, according to this revelation. There are no less than four astonishing things revealed here.
