The Significance of the Resurrection

by Bob Deffinbaugh

....... The significance of Easter is often overlooked or distorted by churches in America. All too often, Easter Sunday is more of a "coming out” ritual, a part of the celebration of the commencement of Spring, than it is an observance and celebration of the resurrection of our Lord. Ladies can show off their new hats and outfits. Once a year church attenders can show up to shock the preacher, and to give him his annual “shot” at them as they attend.

Mysteries Of The Star Of Bethlehem

Dr David R. Reagan

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east, and have come to worship Him.” — Matthew 2: 1-2.
The star of Bethlehem has always intrigued people What was it? Could it have been a comet or a meteor or a super-nova? What about a special alignment of planets?

Prophetic Witness - Novemver 2016The Atonement Of Christ

by Lehman Strauss Litt.D., F.R.G.S.
In its effect toward mankind, the Death of Christ is looked upon as a substitution. Though we have never found the words substitute or substitution in the Bible, the idea of substitution is clearly seen in the work of Christ upon the Cross. The word substitution does not represent all that our Lord accomplished in His Death, but it does indicate that Jesus Christ, as the sinner’s Substitute, bore the awful judgments of God against sin.
We often hear the work of the Cross referred to as the vicarious sufferings and death of the Saviour. The word vicar refers to an agent or deputy who has been authorized to act in the place of another. Fallen man stands before God owing an obligation which he cannot pay in time or eternity. He needs an authorized substitute to stand in his place and represent him. The Lord Jesus Christ is that Substitute so that we are benefited by His death in a unique way. The death of the sinless One was substituted for the death of sinners. Stephen died as a martyr for the truth, but in no way does his death benefit us.

An Examination of the Book Of Daniel

by Pastor Ken Humphries

Daniel Chapter 4: The Deterioration Of The Ruler!

A special character attaches to this chapter from the fact that it contains a communication or letter, written by Nebuchadnezzar himself, and addressed to "all people, nations, and languages, that dwells in all the earth.” He had been favoured with many signs from God through Daniel’s interpretation of his dream in Daniel Ch.2, and in connection with the deliverance of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from the power of the flames in Daniel Ch.3, and, under the momentary impressions produced, he had confessed Daniel’s God to be a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a Revealer of secrets, and that there was no god that could deliver as the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. His heart, however, was unchanged; but in the narrative before us, which again is both historic and prophetic, we are permitted to see the way in which this idolatrous king is brought at last to “praise and extol and honour the King of Heaven" (Daniel Ch.3v37). Read in its conscience and heart to the testimony which reached him through the prophet Daniel, and that he thus became a servant of the "Most High.”

Prohetic Witness - September 2016The Meaning Of
The Last Trumpet

by Dr Don Hender

There are sincere believers who believe that the "Last Trumpet” which shall call up the true Church to meet the Lord in the air is the trumpet of Revelation ch.1 1: 15. "The 7th angel sounded and there were great voices in heaven, saying, the kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of His Christ; and He shall reign for ever and ever”. They confuse this trumpet with the trumpet of 1st Corinthians ch.15:52, "In a moment, in a twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet: for the trumpet shall sound and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed”. There are no sufficient grounds for supposing that there is any link between these two Scriptures The trumpet of Revelation 11:15 is an ’Apocalyptic’ trumpet and some believers believe, therefore, that the Church, will continue on earth until midway through the 7 years of the Great Tribulation which is still to come. The trumpets of Revelation herald only judgments.

When Paul spoke of the last trumpet in 1 Cor. 15:52 he could not expect his readers to equate this with the trumpets of Revelation ch.1 1 as the book of the Revelation had not been written by this time. It would be at least 40 years on from the time Paul wrote 1st Thessalonians which also relates to the Rapture and the Resurrection of the true Church as does 1st Cor. 15. Paul could not have known the Revelation would be written, neither his readers at that time, even though the Holy Spirit is the author of the whole inspired Word of God.

Tattoos - A Mark Of The End Times?

by Jon Ikin

"My whole forearm is lucky,” said Matt Banaham, England and Bath rugby star. "Ace of spades, a pin-up lady sitting inside a horseshoe and a lucky dice. The four-leaf clover was my first tattoo. I got it on my eighteenth birthday and it is one of my most sacred ones.” The twenty nine year old winger is just one of many decorated celebrities who sport tattoos these days. David Beckham, Harry Styles, the late Amy Winehouse, you name them, their bodies have become public galleries of tattoo fashion. What once might have been considered tatty is now displayed with pride. "I LOVE BOOZE, SHOES AND BOYS WITH TATTOOS” boasts a girl’s t-shirt. Yes, there is definitely a new perspective on the ancient practise of tattooing. And some prophecy students believe that it could be a mark of the end times, getting people ready for the ultimate tattoo — the Mark of the Beast (Rev. 13:16-18).

Prophetic Witness - July 2016Terrorism and Europe's
Spiritual Vacuum

by Philip Bell

Many were stunned by the stories that the media published following the callous murder spree of IS-backed terrorists in Paris on 13 November last year. However, a few people are likely to have read IS’s own statement of responsibility for the attacks and their stated reasons for carrying them out. These seem to be ignored by the media. This is likely due, in part, to an understandable willingness to aid in the spread of such propaganda. However, I believe there is another reason. It is uncomfortable even to acknowledge the contents of the statement because its description of the increasingly decadent West is rather "too close to the bone.” Let it be absolutely clear that, in what follows, I am not suggesting for a moment that the perpetrators of these crimes were justified in their actions. Nevertheless, there is surely a connection between the secularisation of Europe and the increasing jeopardy of the safety of its citizens.

Prophetic Witness - June 2016discipleship

by Philip Jones

...What does the word ‘disciple' mean?

The Greek word” translated as ’disciple' in our English Scriptures is ’machetes'! This word literally means ’student' or 'pupil’. This tells us that disciples are people undergoing tuition by someone. Many groups in the Jewish society of Jesus' day had disciples, for example, the Pharisees, Sadducees, and even John the Baptist.
'Some people came and asked Jesus, ’How is it that John’s disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees are Fasting, but yours are not”' (Mark 2:16).
We also know from non-Biblical sources that some Gentile groups and leaders had disciples, for example ....
