What in the World is Happening
- August 2008

The more one contemplates history and the more one
considers the world as it is today. It becomes very apparent that Satan's
main objective is to destroy and usurp God's plans for the redemption of
this world. Over the years he sought to destroy the Jewish people so there
would be no line of succession for the birth of Jesus. Having failed to
stop God's plan for providing a way of salvation, Satan now is seeking to
destroy the Church and remove the nation of Israel from Jerusalem and the
Holy Land so as to prevent the availability of a home land for a return of
Jesus to Jerusalem to reign as king over the world in a coming time [Rev
19:11-16].
There are several accounts in the Old Testament where the
Jewish Nation was threatened with almost total annihilation. We can think
of the Book of Esther where Haman seeks to persuade Persian King Xerxes to
kill the Jews. [Est 5, 6 & 7.]. At the time of the birth of Jesus,
Herod sought to kill the Lord as a baby, motivated no doubt by the Devil
[Matt 2:13-18]. The Devil then later tried to persuade Jesus to turn away
from His mission [Luke 4:1-13]. Many of the surrounding nations sought to
destroy the nation of Israel, but God always ensured a remnant survived to
carry on the race, and provide a place for the birth of Jesus in
Bethlehem, to fulfill His mission to be the Saviour of the world. Since
the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans in AD 70, there has been a
constant battle by Satan to destroy the Jewish race.
In 132 AD about half a million Jews were killed and 1000's
were sold into slavery, and the rest were scattered throughout the known
world. This is known as the "Diaspora". Three years later
serious persecution of the Jews began and a law against practicing the
Jewish faith was passed by Rome. Many were killed, and for all intents and
purposes the Jewish faith was outlawed throughout the Roman Empire. Yet
the Jew's remained as a distinct race and survived. Down over the
centuries the Jew's were persecuted by the established Roman Catholic
Church and expelled from city after city. During the Crusade's to free
Jerusalem from the Muslims, as many Jews were killed as Muslim's. On one
occasion in 1099 AD, Jews were forced into a synagogue, the doors locked
and the building set on fire, killing all within it. In the Rhine area of
Germany the Crusaders told the Jews to embrace the Cross or die.
In 1180 AD, King Philip of France seized all Jewish
property and expelled all the Jews from the country. Nine years later the
Jews were persecuted in England, their possessions claimed and their
houses burned. And so it went on down through the ages.
In 1648 AD, Chmielnicki Bogdan not only led an uprising
against the government in Poland but ultimately intended to kill all the
Jews in Poland. In spite of the failure of his uprising, he still managed
to kill something like 100,000 Jews in the process of also destroying 300
Jewish communities. [www.religioustolerance.org].
Hitler by his hatred of the Jews showed who his master
was. In a way he premeditated the Antichrist to come. He copied the Roman
legions with the standards his soldiers carried in front of them as Rome's
soldiers did. He spoke of a 1000 year Reich, with visions of the future
reign of Christ, who will reign 1000 years during the millennium. The 6
million Jews exterminated in the gas chambers being all part of Satan's
efforts to eliminate the Jewish race and prevent the Son of Man from, in
future time, coming and reigning from Jerusalem. The time was not however
in the time of God. Hitler was destroyed, and his armies routed. In a time
when Britain and its allies were at the last barrier, a miracle occurred
to destroy the axis armies and stop Hitler in his tracks. The RAF, against
impossible odds delayed Hitler's invasion of Britain and he turned his
attention to Russia which helped lead to his destruction. King George VI
broadcast a request for the people of Britain to go to their churches and
pray, they went, and their prayer was answered.
With the doctrine of "Replacement Theology" now
being spread abroad in the world wide Church, we are reminded that the
Devil as a roaring lion wanders the earth seeking whom he may devour [1
Peter 5:8]. Beware, for as the Devil comes to realize his time is short,
his activities will increase against not only the Jews but also the
Christian Church. We are today seeing in many parts of the world a lethal
persecution of both Christians and Jews. We are seeing apathy in the
Christian church with the world having more of our time and Christ less.
We are told that in the last days Satan will manifest himself in the form
of the Antichrist and after three and a half years of a world peace and an
apparent settlement of the Israel question will turn against Israel. The
Antichrist will set himself up in Jerusalem, as God, and attempt to reign
over the world. In a last frantic fight for survival Satan will again try
and destroy the Jewish people [Rev 12]. God will intervene and Israel will
be saved.
In the day in which we live, we are seeing age old laws
overturned, wars and rumours of wars in diverse places. All the prophecies
so clearly stated in black and white in the Scriptures are being fulfilled
one by one. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up
your heads, because your redemption is drawing near [Luke 21: 28] One
day we will be caught up to be with the Lord. Even so come Lord Jesus.
