HOPE FOR THE FUTURE

As I write this article the situation outside looks gloomy. The weather for August has been terrible, the credit crunch is biting deeper and the Cold War seems to be back with Russia making threats of nuclear strikes. For most people in the world the only bright spark is that Team GB have bagged a record number of gold medals in the Olympics.

Politicians and economists tell us it will get better in a year or two but I am never quite sure on what they are basing this hope.

Some Christians are telling us that there will be a great revival which will bring whole cities and nations to Christ. I am even less sure on what they are basing this hope. 
The lord Jesus tells us the absolute truth and warns us in His Word of the conditions on the earth in the last days before His return. There will be a falling away from the truth amongst professing Christians and a time of great tribulation, which would bring the world to the brink of destruction if He did not intervene (Matthew 24:21-22). He gives us the only certain hope for the future - the blessed hope of His coming again to receive those who believe in Him to Himself in the rapture of the church and then to judge the world in righteousness at His coming again to the earth.
