Home Jan | Feb | Mar | April | May | June | July | Aug Powerpoint - June 2008Over the past few weeks we have witnessed on our televisions and in the news, the awful catastrophe that have ripped through Burma and China, with tragic loss of life, especially amongst school children. The images on our screens were terrible. Many people look at these events and remark "if there is a God, why do these things happen?" Man blames God for all the wrong things that happen, but my mind went to that Scripture that says: 'We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of child-birth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wail eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies." (NIV Romans 8:22-23). Although these events are tragic, and we would not wish them on anyone, they are a reminder to us as Christians waiting for the return of our Saviour, that the earth too, is waiting for His coming. The other dreadful event that has happened in this country recently, is that of the passing of the Human Fertilization and Embryology Bill that will allow the bringing together of human and animal tissue, in the name of science. When things go wrong, man blames God, yet on the other hand, man is trying to play God by tampering with creation. Friends, the world continues to slide into the hands of the evil one, with man and even the Church involved in Satan's bidding. But praise be to God for He is in control, he is on the throne, His kingdom is sure and His coming certain. Satan may be having his day; but Christ Jesus will have the last word ... and it will not be long in coming. In the meantime, let us use our time wisely, let us be busy telling the Gospel to all who will listen. Pastor Steve Lloyd
