Home Jan | Feb | Mar | April | May | June | July Powerpoint - April 2008"We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace" (2Kings 7v9).Greetings in the name of our soon coming Lord and Saviour. Some time ago I had the opportunity to speak with a man who knew very little about the Lord's return. So what, you may ask? There are millions of them all over the country. Many in our churches, believers in the Saviour, who have had very little, if any teaching on the Last Days. So it comes as no surprise. However, this one was different. He stood on a street corner in a busy shopping area proclaiming that Jesus was coming again. He announced that His coming might happen soon but no one really knows when. He said that when Jesus came it would be too late for those who had never responded to the truth of the gospel that Jesus Christ is the only Saviour of the world. As people walked by some laughed, others mocked, but a few stopped to listen. When I spoke with him afterwards, he told me that he had only recently become a Christian and that on the previous Sunday in his church he had heard the preacher say these things. As he believed that the time was short, he decided to go out and tell as many people as he could of the urgency of calling on the name of the Lord for salvation. What a massive challenge to you and me is this incident. Peter in his second letter writes, "but the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness. Looking for and hastening the coming of the day God, ... " (2 Peter 3: 1 0-12a NKJV) Can I humbly ask the question of us all. What are we doing with our knowledge of the crucified risen and soon coming Saviour? Jesus said, "Did you not know I must be about my Father's business." (Luke 2:49 NKJV) The time is drawing shorter as each day goes by. Out there among your circle of friends and neighbours, there are those that at the last trumpet will be left behind. But let us warn them of the coming wrath and that they too may flee to the safety of the waiting and outstretched arms of our wonderful Saviour Jesus Christ. "whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Acts 2:21 NKJV) Derek Marshall
