Powerpoint - March 2008

"For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived that He might be Lord both of the dead and the living" (Romans 14:9).

It was the Apostle Paul who prayed, "God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me and I unto the world."

From a human point of view Paul could well have gloried in his education, his culture, his citizenship, his religion and all that in his pre-conversion days. After he had a life-changing encounter with the living Christ he could have gloried in his conversion, the vision and revelations he received, the epistles he wrote, the trials and sufferings he endured and overcame, the souls he won for Christ, the miracles, signs and wonders that he witnessed in his ministry.

Yet he asks God to restrain him from glorying in anything but the Cross!

Today in our worship, our witness, our work we need to get back to the Cross. The death and resurrection of Christ is the centre of our message and the foundation of our hope. Without the Cross there can be no crown.
