Our anticipation of the literal and soon return of the Lord Jesus Christ and the gathering together and taking away of this true church, His bride is essential to the very fabric of our whole theology. It is also a major ingredient of our gospel message. A hundred or so years ago, such a confident view would have been very widely held throughout the mainstream evangelical world and the subsequent Great War (WWI) served to heighten expectation. Now things are so different. Because of apostasy or lukewarmness, the evangelical church behaves as if it is here forever and that it has strength and wealth to do the job of building a kingdom for a king, should He ever come. For so many the truths of the return of Jesus Christ are relegated to minor, distant theories coupled with an attitude which says, "am I bothered!?" All this despite terror in our midst and almost certain war on our near horizon. BUT GOD'S TRUTH HAS NOT CHANGED ... and there remains life in a slowly growing 'stump' of believers who are looking for, hastening, preparing for, packing up for, warning about, calling for, anticipating with joy, counting down to the glorious return of the Lord Jesus, and our gathering together to Him. The Lord God has not changed, His plan and time-table have not changed; the Truth has not changed " ... this same Jesus ...will so come in the manner ..." STAND FAST, do not change with every wind of doctrine, you are the seed of eschatological life in the stump. Yours in Christ,
