However, as I write, we are surrounded by tremendous floods that have traumatically affected Evesham, Gloucester and Tewkesbury. Even Woodmancote has homes severely flooded and tarmac roads torn up by the tremendous volume of water that is coming off the Cleeve Hills. At present we are without water & electricity, a situation we are told could last for several days. The Lord assured his people Israel when they were passing through situations beyond their control firstly, that He would be with them, the assurance of His presence; secondly that the waters would not overflow them, the assurance of His protection; and finally that they would "pass through" this situation, the assurance of His providential care and control. Thank God we can rest in the same assurances. The unusual conditions are one of many points to the fact that we are living in the end-times and that the coming of the Lord is near. Whilst many around us are daily consulting the weather forecasts, we are resting on the truth of God's unchanging word, the more sure word of prophecy. Ever so, come Lord Jesus. Glyn L. Taylor
