An elderly gentleman looked out of his window one night and saw a man trying to break into a car. He immediately called the police who later caught the man with the stolen vehicle. When the case was brought to court the old man had to stand witness and was cross examined by the defendant's lawyer. He tried to make out that the senior citizen was too old and too visually impaired to be a credible witness against his client. "Tell me, sir," he said, "at your age, just how far can you see at night?" The old man thought for a moment and then replied, 'Well, I can see the moon - how far is that?" Of course his answer not only tells us something about his eyesight (and wit), but also about the moon itself. Along with the sun and the stars the moon is visible to all which is why God made them for signs in the heavens. " ....

Dear friends,
Enoch was the first man in the Bible to be raptured and as such he is a picture of those who will be "caught up to meet the Lord in the air" in the last days (1 Thess.4: 17). Let us observe three things about him.

First, notice his translation. Genesis 5:24 says, "And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him." This is the actual description of his rapture (or, "translation" as Heb.11 :5 calls it) and we see what a dramatic thing it was. Without leaving any earthly remains or ever tasting death Enoch was taken by God. This is just how it will be for those who are snatched away by the Lord Jesus when He comes for His church. It could be said of each believer living in that hour, "he was not; for God took him." Do you know the Lord as your Saviour? When he comes will you be caught up to meet Him? Put your trust in Christ today and be ready for the next translation, should it occur in our day.

A GOOD while ago I was standing on a small hill near Calais harbour, gazing with eager expectancy out over the English Channel. A heavy fog obscured the distant part of the sea. It was a specially happy occasion for me because soon, indeed at any moment, a ship with my daughter on board would suddenly burst through the bank of mist, and she who was coming from the north and I who had come from the south would meet each other and so continue to be together. But a far greater thrill awaits the believer at that marvellous day of the Rapture, when from the earth below all the Lord's own (composing the church), whether alive or dead, will rise up in glorified bodies to meet our Lord from heaven above, in the air. Then after a short time, the Lord will lead us triumphantly back to earth. Thus His coming will be in two stages, firstly into the air, and then down to earth.
